Pittsburghers for Public Transit
PPT is grassroots organization of transit riders, workers, and residents working to defend and expand public transit. Our guiding principles are outlined in our Transit Bill of Rights (see below). Founded in 2010, we have raised consciousness about the importance and value of public mass transit. We’ve provided education about the nature of the funding crisis, organized rallies and demonstrations, and mobilized thousands of people to exert the pressure required to pass the state transportation bill. Allegheny County Labor Council, AFL-CIO
The Allegheny County Labor Council (in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania) is a local branch of the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO). The Council was issued its charter in 1961. It was formed from the merger of two pre-existing AFL central labor bodies and two pre-existing CIO central labor bodies.
The Labor Council represents the collective interest of its affiliated unions and of the working people of Allegheny County. It consists of affiliated unions that designate delegates who elect an executive board and conduct Labor Council business at monthly meetings. Read more.
The Pennsylvania AFL-CIO is a democratic organization governed and comprised of local, national, and international unions. These unions meet at a biennial convention whose location alternates between Pittsburgh and Philadelphia every two years. Convention delegates are elected by their local unions to establish goals and policies, and to elect leaders of the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO. Read more.

The Labor Leadership Institute (LLI) is an intensive leadership development program co-sponsored by the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO and Penn State’s School of Labor and Employment Relations for full-time, high-level union leaders and staff that meets periodically over the course of a year. Read more.
